2021 Summer Reading Assignments for Honors & AP English Courses
Whether you need volunteer hours for school or church or simply want to give back to the community, the Bethel Park Library welcomes your help! We have several volunteer committees on which you may serve. Please take the time to read the descriptions below, choose the one that best suits your personality, and then contact us for an interview. We look forward to new members joining our team!
CHILDREN'S PLANNING COMMITTEE The Children's Programming Committee works directly with the Library children's staff in the planning and preparation of children's programming. From daily classes to special events, extra hands and creative ideas are always needed. Additionally, volunteer members are asked to work the actual events when possible. Some of the big events that occur each year include the Halloween party, Holiday Open House, Egg Hunt, American Girl Tea Party, and Summer Reading Kick-Off. If you enjoy planning parties and enjoy working with children, this is the committee for you! If interested, please contact Elaine Volpe at email@example.com
ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITTEE There is perhaps no other building that needs to stay as organized as a library. If you enjoy cleaning, organizing, and categorizing, then this committee is the perfect fit for you! General duties include shelf reading, preparing withdrawn books for donation, cleaning the play space, organizing closets, filing, printing, and sorting books. Interested parties should contact Elaine Volpe at firstname.lastname@example.org
BOOK REVIEW COMMITTEE If you're a book lover, this is the committee for you! Responsibilities include meeting once a month to pick books and share peer reviews, creating book trailers, recommending new books for our young adult collection, and creating and maintaining the young adult display which should change seasonally. It's never too late to join, so reach out to Dawn Hurley if interested at email@example.com
TECH COMMITTEE Technology is a growing field and the Bethel Park Library is committed to staying current with the latest technology trends. If you are knowledgeable with technology, we want you on our committee! All new volunteer members will be trained on our 3D printer and after successfully passing staff training, will help run open labs for children and tweens. Other duties include assisting with coding clubs and other computer-based programming, assisting with intergenerational classes for grandparent/child in which educational apps would be demonstrated for the support of literacy and learning, and submitting at least one commercial per year to BPTV that promotes the Library and its programs/services. Interested parties should contact Beth Scarlett at firstname.lastname@example.org
SOCIAL MEDIA COMMITTEE The Social Media Committee consults with the Library's Youth Services staff on how to best promote the Department's programs and services via social media. Finally - a parent-approved opportunity to put your social media savvy to work! If interested, please contact Nancy Martin at email@example.com.
